SCTE TECHEXPO26, ATLANTA – Vistance Networks used SCTE TechExpo26 to showcase a broad strategy that spans DOCSIS 4.0, 50G PON and AI-driven network operations, as operators increasingly look for flexible upgrade paths and ways to manage converged broadband networks.
Among the biggest announcements was an expansion of its Aurora Networks' 50G PON portfolio, including new 50G shelf and remote OLTs as well as subscriber equipment aimed at helping operators prepare for future bandwidth demands. Aurora, which is one of Vistance's businesses, is positioning the portfolio as a way for providers to add PON capabilities while leveraging existing infrastructure.
Guy Sucharczuk, SVP and president of Aurora Networks, said the discussion around 50G PON is less about today's applications and more about preparing networks for the future.
"Nobody needs 50 gig today," Sucharczuk told Fierce. "It's building for the future."
The company also emphasized ServAssure NXT AI, developed in conjunction with partner DvSum, which Aurora says gives operators visibility across amplifiers, nodes, CMTS platforms and other network elements through a single interface.
"The reason that's important is when you have an outage and something goes wrong, you want to know where to send the truck," Sucharczuk said. "We're the only guys who can monitor from the amplifier all the way through the nodes, CMTS and back to one screen."
Another focal point was Aurora's virtual broadband network gateway (vBNG) software. Sucharczuk said the platform is designed to abstract the underlying access technology, allowing operators to provision and manage services across fiber, HFC and mobile networks without needing separate operational workflows for each.
The product announcements come as Aurora Networks gains traction with cable operators pursuing DOCSIS 4.0 upgrades. This week, the company announced what it called Europe's first large-scale deployment of unified DOCSIS 4.0 nodes in a live network with Ziggo in the Netherlands. Aurora also revealed Comcast has begun field trials of its next-generation DOCSIS 4.0 node platform.
Taken together, the announcements reflect Aurora's effort to provide operators with a broader set of modernization options as they balance DOCSIS evolution, fiber expansion and growing operational complexity.
