- The deployment brings the new Quality of Outcome industry standard, published by the IETF, to millions of Vodafone gateways
- Vodafone has already deployed Quality of Outcome in one of its live broadband networks
- CUJO AI’s router software is already deployed by many service providers, across 63 million homes
Vodafone has selected CUJO AI’s latest software — called Quality of Outcome (QoO) — for deployment across several of its European broadband markets.
CUJO AI’s Intelligence Platform is already integrated in 72,000 device models and deployed across 63 million homes via service providers, including Comcast, Charter, T-Mobile, Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom, and several others. Its software is integrated into routers to detect what devices are connected to the network, and its algorithms can learn network traffic and device behavior.
Today’s news relates to its QoO technology, which Vodafone has already deployed in one of its live broadband networks, with further rollout underway across its European footprint.
Rather than assessing a network primarily through technical measures such as speed or average latency, QoO evaluates how well network conditions support the outcomes users expect from specific applications. For instance, it detects whether gaming is responsive, whether video calls are uninterrupted and whether cloud services are reliable.
QoO converts measurements such as latency, packet loss and throughput into an application-specific score. This allows operators to understand whether their networks provide the conditions required for an application to perform well and to identify where performance can be improved.
Remko Vos, CEO of CUJO AI, said, "Network quality should ultimately be measured by what customers can successfully do with their connection. CUJO AI helped develop Quality of Outcome to connect network engineering with the experiences that matter to users."
QoO was co-created by experts at CUJO AI in collaboration with the wider networking community and advanced through the Internet Engineering Task Force's (IETF) IP Performance Measurement Working Group.
For its part, Vodafone has already tested QoO with its DOCSIS technology. And Vodafone will be the first major operator to deploy QoO at scale across live broadband networks.
"Delivering an excellent broadband experience requires us to look beyond headline speeds and understand how the network performs for the applications our customers use," said Oscar Gallego, director of Home Technology & Products at Vodafone.
