ASUS has assigned engineers to develop an Android netbook powered by the end of the year, but hasn't yet decided whether to launch such a product, CIO said. Researchers have already compiled Google's Android OS onto a netbook.

India's communications ministry has selected Syniverse Technologies and Telcordia Technologies to operate a clearing-house for mobile number portability (MNP) services, the Economic Times said. The government hopes to launch MNP this year.
