Ericsson has won its first managed services contract in Canada, with a five-year deal to manage new entrant Mobilicity’s 3G network. The operator plans to launch services in Toronto this spring. 

Tata Communications has expanded its network in Russia and CIS with a new Moscow point of presence. The firm says the new node will make it easier for carriers in the markets to access its IPX multiservice framework, and help it grow its presence in emerging markets.
 
California police raided the home of Gizmodo editor Jason Chen and seized four computers and two servers. Chen wrote extensively about Apple’s next-gen iPhone, using a device allegedly found in a bar and sold to the blogsite.
 
Google's YouTube has launched an online video rental service, which offers movie and television show content for between 99 cents (€0.74) and $3.99. It is presently only available in the US.
 
Telenor has appointed its executive vice president, Hilde Tonne, as the deputy head of its Asian operations, while Ireland's Eircom has hired Andrew Haire as its new director of corporate affairs.
 
Samsung has agreed to preload Yahoo services, including Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Messenger, on Samsung mobile devices, including those running on Bada and Android platforms.
 
BT and Cisco have been selected as the official IT and telecom partners for the BMW International Open 2010, for another year running. BT will be the official communications services partner for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games.
