Nokia had a market share of 53% in Africa in the second quarter, and 61% in the Asia-Pacific region, excluding China.
A Reuters report further quoted corporate strategy head Heikki Norta saying that a 40% penetration in the said regions 'opens further growth opportunities' for Nokia.
Norta said the company's market share was 42% in Europe and 39% in China.
On a global basis Nokia has forecast its market share to drop below 40% in the third quarter.
