Swiss incumbent Swisscom is embarking on a two year trial of e-health services using telepresence kit from Cisco.
The netCare trial is offering formal triage consultations with doctors via video sites established in 200 Swiss pharmacies. The sites link back to consulting rooms at Medgate, Switzerland’s center for telemedicine, which are equipped with a microphone, camera and 24-inch high definition display.
Cisco claims the set-up offers the same quality of service as visiting a doctor in person. It can also be extended with remote diagnostic devices to measure a patient’s heart rate, blood pressure and temperature.
