AWS revealed plans to massively expand its fleet of Nvidia GPUs over the coming two years, citing "surging demand" from frontier labs, global enterprises, startups, and governments.
The company said it expects to deploy 2 million additional Nvidia GPUs across its global infrastructure in 2027 and 2028. The move builds on its previously announced plan to deploy more than 1 million Nvidia GPUs in its cloud regions starting in 2026. Demand has since exceeded those expectations, AWS said.
As part of the expanded deal, AWS said it will also deploy NVIDIA Vera CPU‑based infrastructure and build AI factories for the U.S. government comprised of 100,000 GPUs on secure AWS infrastructure. Some Vera CPUs will operate standalone while others will be integrated with its Rubin GPUs.
“Nvidia and AWS have built one of the great growth engines of the AI era, and demand is running ahead of every forecast,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said in a statement. "This expansion reflects customers’ demand for Nvidia’s platform on AWS.”
