Bell Canada and Cisco signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on sovereign AI infrastructure for Canada, pairing Bell’s data center, network and operations assets with Cisco’s AI, security, observability and infrastructure management technologies.
The companies said the partnership is aimed at helping Canadian organizations deploy, secure and manage AI infrastructure inside the country, with greater control over where sensitive workloads, critical systems and data are located. The MOU comes as Bell positions itself as a front-runner in Canada’s sovereign AI market through its AI Fabric strategy and a major data center expansion push.
John Watson, group president of business markets, Bell Cyber, AI Fabric and Ateko, said the collaboration is designed to turn sovereign AI from ambition into infrastructure Canadian organizations can use.
Bell and Cisco will focus on three areas: building a Canadian platform for sovereign AI, supporting modular AI infrastructure deployments and developing flexible commercial models. The effort will combine Bell’s Canadian data center space, power, cooling, physical security, connectivity and operational services with Cisco’s AI infrastructure, security tools and Sovereign Critical Infrastructure portfolio.
The companies will also assess how Cisco AI POD architectures can be used as modular building blocks for training, inference and other AI workloads, while giving customers more choice in how they reserve, scale and pay for infrastructure capacity.
