Cablenet Communication Systems, Cyprus’ second-largest fixed network operator, is deploying Harmonic's cOS virtualized broadband platform to modernize the operator's DOCSIS access network and support faster broadband service tiers.
The rollout uses Harmonic’s distributed access architecture with low-power Oyster nodes, giving Cablenet a path to expand high-performance gigabit speeds across its footprint while preserving flexibility for a longer-term multi-technology network strategy. Harmonic said the platform will also help Cablenet consolidate data centers, simplify hub-site infrastructure and move network functions off legacy hardware to reduce space, power, wiring and operating costs.
Cablenet will also gain access to Harmonic’s Central AI-driven network intelligence tools for improved visibility, monitoring, troubleshooting and service assurance. Harmonic noted it will showcase its latest broadband products at Network X this week.
