Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison taps Nokia for 5G RAN upgrades, AI-RAN collab

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison inked a deal with Nokia to modernize its nationwide mobile network in Indonesia through the deployment of advanced 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) technologies. Nokia will support the rollout of low- and mid-band 5G, and help prepare Indosat's network for AI-RAN rollouts.

"This collaboration strengthens our readiness for the next phase of digital innovation while reinforcing our commitment to empowering Indonesia through inclusive and sustainable digital transformation," Indosat CEO Vikram Sinha said in a statement.

As part of the agreement, Nokia will deploy its latest Habrok and Pandion radio families, Levante basebands, Centralized RAN and advanced network management and automation platforms

Indosat and Nokia's RAN collaboration will support Nokia’s work on new AI algorithms designed to improve spectral efficiency on Nvidia AI-RAN platforms.

Nokia and Nvidia are already working with Indosat on AI-RAN, having demonstrated the first completed AI-RAN call At Mobile World Congress 2026. Indosat said its next milestone will be the initiation of field trials in Indonesia by the end of 2026.
