Mediacom Communications named Jon Heleno SVP and corporate controller, putting him in charge of the cable operator’s accounting operations, financial reporting, technical accounting, tax oversight, external audit and internal controls.
Heleno succeeds Julien Dancona, who retired after 25 years with the company. He joins Mediacom from Washington University in St. Louis, where he was associate vice chancellor of financial planning and budgeting for a $5 billion enterprise.
Before that, Heleno spent six years as deputy controller at Columbia University and held senior finance roles at Stryker and Mars, including a stint as CFO of Mars Retail Group. He started his career in public accounting.
Jack Griffin, Mediacom’s SVP, CFO and treasurer, said Heleno brings the “rigor, sophistication and operational mindset” the company wanted in its senior accounting leader. He added Heleno’s background should fit the complexity of the industry and thanked Dancona for his decades of service.
