Meta has installed and begun testing AMD’s Helios rack-scale AI systems, marking a step toward a broader deployment as the companies deepen their collaboration across processors, networking and software.
AMD said initial systems are running at Meta, with a wider rollout planned in the near future. The chipmaker added its hardware already supports Meta’s infrastructure, from AI training to the dedicated computing environments behind its Muse personal AI agent.
Meta has deployed millions of AMD EPYC processors across multiple generations and is a lead customer for sixth-generation EPYC CPUs. The companies are also working together on future processors, including a generation codenamed Verano.
On the accelerator side, AMD’s Instinct GPUs are already in production for training, ranking and recommendation engines. Meta helped define the MI450 architecture early in its development and plans to deploy a custom Instinct GPU optimized for its workloads.
AMD also said its technologies provide launch-day support for Meta’s Muse Spark Open and Muse Glimmer models, extending the partnership beyond hardware to model compatibility and software.
The announcement points to an expanding role for AMD across Meta’s AI infrastructure, although the initial Helios installations remain in testing ahead of the broader deployment.
