Zayo inks long-term fiber supply deal with Corning

Zayo has expanded its long-running supply relationship with Corning to lock in a major portion of the fiber optic cable it expects to need through the rest of the decade, a move aimed at keeping its AI infrastructure buildout on track.

The Denver-based digital infrastructure provider said the expanded strategic supply agreement with Corning will support one of the largest network expansions in Zayo’s history. The company plans to add 15,000 new route miles by 2030, including more than 8,000 miles of new long-haul fiber in collaboration with Nvidia, while also adding capacity in existing corridors where AI infrastructure demand is clustering.

Zayo CEO Steve Smith said AI is reshaping “where and how quickly network capacity needs to be built,” adding that the Corning relationship gives Zayo more confidence that material availability won’t slow customer deployments.
