6G Spectrum and Waveforms: Enabling the Next Generation of Wireless

ET
60 Minutes

As the planned successor to the widely deployed 5G (IMT2020), 6G aims to challenge the limits of connectivity. While research initiatives have been underway for several years, formal 3GPP standardization efforts have only recently commenced. A 3GPP workshop in March 2025 marked a significant step forward, and discussions regarding the 6G spectrum also took place at the World Radio Conference (WRC) in Dubai in November 2023. 6G is still in its early developmental stages, but many companies have already initiated projects aimed at launching commercial equipment around 2030. This proactive approach necessitates the advance availability of test and measurement tools
