Satellites at Every Altitude: How LEO, MEO & GEO Are Reshaping Global Connectivity

Available on-demand
60 Minutes

From delivering broadband to remote homes to enabling GPS and maritime communications, satellites in low, medium, and geosynchronous orbits are transforming the telecommunications landscape. LEO constellations are making headlines with direct-to-device and fixed wireless access capabilities, while MEO satellites continue to power mission-critical services like navigation and global broadband. Meanwhile, GEO satellites remain essential for broadcast and large-scale data delivery.

In this Fierce Network Research webinar, we’ll explore:

  • The unique roles of LEO, MEO, and GEO satellites in today’s telecom ecosystem
  • Key advantages and limitations of each orbit class
  • Emerging use cases like direct-to-cell, maritime broadband, and IoT connectivity
  • How satellite and terrestrial networks are converging to meet global demand
  • What’s next for satellite broadband and wireless innovation

Join us to get a clear view of how satellite technology is evolving — and what it means for the future of global connectivity.

Diego Paldao

Diego is based in SES’s Washington, DC office and is currently focused on clients in the Americas and leveraging SES’s multi-orbit satellite constellation capabilities, which include existing and future GEO assets as well as the next-generation MEO system, O3b mPOWER to support new use cases and new segments. He is responsible for evaluating markets and helping existing and new clients plan for their future by aligning SES’s solutions in GEO & MEO to solve our customers’ problems. SES’s primary model is to establish distribution partnerships with local and regional integrators, telcos, and MNOs to enable end users to access SES solutions. O3b mPOWER’s capabilities in particular will allow customers to solve connectivity problems previously out of reach with traditional satellite communications.

Diego Paldao has more than 25 years of experience in the global telecom industry. Beginning in 1997 while at UUNET, Diego worked with satellite operators during the Internet boom to connect the first countries and communities to the internet via satellite. After spending his early satellite years with SES, Diego expanded his industry knowledge with various companies that focused on different parts of the satellite solution including teleport operators, service providers and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) companies, prior to re-joining SES to focus on business development opportunities and strategic projects.
