MediaTek powers the majority of mobile phones in the world through its system-on-chip (SOC) processors, so it’s no surprise that they are training their sights on the U.S. and Latin America markets. The company recently released the Dimensity 1050, implementing a mmWave 5G modem that addresses many of the problems of population-dense areas.
MediaTek is banking on a post-pandemic increase in demand for bandwidth as people flock to concerts, sporting events, and other locations that are ideal for mmWave 5G application. With the Dimensity 1050, Mestechkin notes, MediaTek has a tested, ready-to-implement chipset for premium handsets.
