NSN unveils hybrid backhaul solution

Nokia Siemens Networks introduced a wireless backhaul solution that combines Carrier Ethernet Transport (CET) with microwave radio technology. The vendor said the combination of the two eliminates the need for a separate indoor unit to house the microwave radio.

Unlike traditional wireless backhaul approaches that require additional aggregation devices and other cabinets at the base station sites, NSN said it has incorporated a Carrier Ethernet engine in its FlexiPacket Microwave Radio solution. NSN says that the CET feature set enables network and transport sharing with strict QoS guarantees and support for next-gen mobile services and applications.
