AT&T announced plans to offers AT&T Business Fiber gigabit service to more businesses in Georgia.
The freshly expanded service now boasts AT&T Fiber Ready locations in Atlanta, Alpharetta, Dallas, Macon, Newnan, Douglasville, Savannah, Brunswick, Marietta, Athens, Duluth, Gainesville, Columbus, Lawrenceville, Hiram, Augusta, Pooler, Rome, LaGrange, Valdosta, Warner Robins and Bainbridge.
"For years, we have offered business customers gigabit connections. But through AT&T Business Fiber, we are speeding deployment of these high-speed connections to our business customers, offering fast and reliable network solutions to stay connected and competitive," said Bill Leahy, president of AT&T Georgia, in a statement.
AT&T is also launching launching nationwide U-verse Business Voice over AT&T Business Fiber, which will allow for voice over IP phone service.
In Georgia, AT&T is facing off against Cox Communications. The cable MSO earlier this year announced expanded availability of residential 1 Gbps internet speeds. Cox's gigabit internet service is available in a handful of locations and additional properties will be connected in the near future.
The expansion in Georgia comes as AT&T continues to deepen its fiber deployments across the country. In May, AT&T announced expansions of its fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) services for residential and business customers in eight markets in the Midwest, South and West.
"We'll continue to expand our 100 percent fiber AT&T GigaPower network to additional locations," AT&T said. "We're planning to triple availability by the end of 2016."
