AT&T extends U-verse video application to over 20 wireless devices

AT&T's (NYSE: T) move to make its U-verse video content to more Android wireless devices illustrates that the operator continues to play into the consumer's desire to have their content available outside of the living room.

Already available to over 20 devices and four major operating systems, users that have the LG Thrive, LG Phoenix, Samsung Infuse4G and Windows Phone HTC HD7S will be able to access U-verse video services.

In addition to enabling qualified subscribers to view videos right on their mobile device, the U-verse Mobile app lets U-verse TV subscribers remotely schedule and manage their home DVR recordings that reside at thir home.

The telco's instincts appear to be spot on. A recent Nielsen Cross-Platform Report revealed that mobile viewing has increased 41 percent since 2010 and more than 100 percent since 2009.

Interestingly, AT&T has been using wireless as a way to not only retain current U-verse TV customers, but also lure its wireless customers to purchase U-verse video with various bundle discounts.
