U.K.-based broadband service provider Shareband is set to launch services in Seattle next month based on technology that can bond up to four ADSL lines for greater bandwidth-or bond multiple types of broadband lines, including cable. Shareband's offering employs a complex combination of centralized servers, the company's own firmware and broadband routers, but it should be an intriguing addition to the U.S. broadband market.
Shareband plans to expand nationwide throughout the next year. The bonding capability should allow end users broadband service redundancy in the event one network goes out and the other remains in service. It also might help customers compare services and performance to decide what kind of broadband connection they really want.
