FairPoint expands broadband network availability in New Hampshire

FairPoint Communications (Nasdaq: FRP) continues to make progress with expanding broadband availability in its New England territory, reaching additional homes and businesses in New Hampshire including Hampton and parts of Alton, Gilford and Moultonborough.

In the beachside community of Hampton, N.H., FairPoint has extended DSL service to an additional 700 homes and businesses. Likewise, in Alton, Gilford and Moultonborough, FairPoint has extended DSL service to an additional 500 homes and businesses.

Prior to this initiative, some areas in the listed towns never had broadband access before.

While it could be argued that these are relatively small deployments, they are important for FairPoint to achieve as they try to regain much needed credibility lost in New England after struggling to resolve ongoing back office and service issues that arose after they bought Verizon's (NYSE: VZ) former wireline facilities in the region.
