Level 3 establishes PoP in Manchester LDeX2 data center, deepens UK presence

Level 3 Communications has built a new point of presence (PoP) at LDeX Group's LDeX2 data center that it recently debuted in the Trafford Park area of Manchester, a move that will immediately expand its presence in the United Kingdom.

LDeX Group said that Level 3 is the first on-net service provider to build a network into its Manchester colocation facility.

Neither company is a stranger to one another. Level 3 already provides connectivity services to its existing customers at LDeX Group's London-based colocation facility LDeX1.

"This news solidifies our relationship with Level 3, which already provides superior connectivity services to our existing customers at LDeX1, our London-based colocation facility," said Rob Garbutt, CEO at LDeX Group, in a release.

Enhancing its presence in EMEA has become one of Level 3's key priorities. During the fourth quarter, Level 3 reported that the EMEA region saw enterprise revenues jump to $143 million from $134 million.

In November, the service provider named Andrew Crouch as the president of its EMEA operations. Crouch permanently took over the EMEA role from James Heard, who left Level 3 after having to lay off 60 of its employees in the UK as part of a broader effort to trim costs at the company.
