Motorola makes IPTV progress

First, Motorola tried to recreate the RAZR in order to save itself, and just last week the company said it would now stay away from such one-hit wonders in order to save itself. Maybe Motorola should just spend more time on IPTV. The company acquired several other smaller firms over the last couple of years to turn its old set-top box business into a much more multi-dimensional IPTV unit. Those deals included Tut Systems and Kreatel Communications, among others, and they are paying off.

The vendor just announced it had shipped its two-millionth IPTV set-top box to TeliaSonera, and also partnered up with Microsoft for interoperability testing with Microsoft's IPTV offering. Forget mobile; IPTV might just save Motorola's reputation for foresight.
