Savvis adds 220,000 square feet of domestic, international data center space

Savvis, CenturyLink's (NYSE: CTL) data center and cloud unit, is making a big push to expand existing and build-out new domestic and international data centers to take advantage of new managed service opportunities.

In the U.S. market, the service provider will expand three existing data center facilities: Santa Clara, Calif.; Washington, D.C.; Dallas, TX; and Weehawken, N.J.

Outside the United States, Savvis will expand its footprint by opening new two new data centers in London and one in Singapore. Asia Pacific, in particular, has been a particular focus for Savvis. Since the beginning of the year, the service provider opened up new data centers in both Hong Kong and Tokyo.  

When the expansion in these seven cities are complete, the service provider will add almost 220,000 square feet of new raised floor space, giving it a total of 2 million square feet of data center space.
