When Utility Telephone completes its acquisition of Minden, Nev.-based service provider WPTI Telecom, it will become Frontier Nevada's (NYSE: FTR) newest competitor for business services. Frontier became Douglas County Nevada's incumbent operator when it completed its acquisition of Verizon's wireline assets in 14 states.
Utility Telephone, which has up till now served primarily the California and Nevada business telecom market, will instantly gain a presence in Nevada with a set of customers in Reno, Carson City and Douglas County. In addition to expanding its customer base, Utility Telephone will not only enhance its DSL network reach, but also a 2.5 Gbps fiber network that connects Reno, Carson City and Fernley, Nevada.
Upon completion of the deal, Utility Telephone will offer WPTI's customers a suite of new services including Ethernet over Copper (EoC), MPLS, web hosting and long-distance voice along with customer premise equipment such as PBX phone systems.
Jason Mills, Founder and CEO of Utility Telephone, said the key attribute of the acquisition will be on providing a hands on customer experience.
