Mobile video optimization firm Bytemobile confirmed that it laid off a "small number" of workers in a minor reorganization, but said it is healthy and plowing ahead for 2012.
Bytemobile spokeswoman Stacey Infantino told FierceWireless that the company recently let go of a "very small percentage" of its staff but declined to comment on the number of employees affected by the reorganization. She said that the main reason for the changes was "to realign teams to better support the ongoing success of our video and web optimization solutions and the momentum of our adaptive traffic management platform. We are confident that this will result in better alignment with growth opportunities."
Privately held Bytemobile does not release its financial results, but Infantino said "2011 was a solid year for the company--the momentum of our video optimization solutions continues to accelerate."
Bytemobile competes with several other vendors in the growing video optimization market, including Openwave, Ortiva Wireless, Radware, Radisys and Vantrix. In August Bytemobile unveiled a new adaptive traffic management new product line designed to manage all mobile IP network traffic on a single platform. The product incorporates a number of network optimization methods in one platform designed to reduce network capital expenditures and improve quality of service.
