C&L: Crown Castle's mobile TV head quits

According to a government filing discovered by RCR News, Crown Castle's mobile TV head, Michael Schueppert unexpectedly resigned. The company has had a rough time when it comes to its planned DVB-H mobile TV network: Verizon Wireless decided to go with rival mobile TV technology MediaFLO from Qualcomm. Sprint and T-Mobile USA are reportedly looking at FLO too. By all accounts, CC will go it alone and launch its network in New York City without the support of carrier partners. The plan is to sell an unlocked GSM phone to support its Modeo-branded service, which should launch in 30 markets in the U.S. by the end of next year.
