Strategy Analytics survey: U.S. smartphone users prefer devices with 5.3 inch screens

Smartphone users in the U.S. and U.K. were most likely to be interested in a device with a display size of 5.3 inches overall during the first half of 2015, according to a new report from Strategy Analytics. U.S. consumers were more interested in larger prototypes than their U.K. counterparts, while Android owners showed more interest in phablet-sized phones than Apple users did.

The survey also found that while most smartphone owners were interested in a larger phone than the one they carry, more than half of respondents expressed interest in a device that was only slightly larger than their current display size. So while many users still want bigger phones, they also want devices that are small enough to carry and navigate easily.

"While interest in larger displays is considerable for current consumers it is still imperative to keep in mind that a device with good 'fit in hand' is important," said analyst Monica Wong, who authored the report. Press release
