Survey: Handset price, style win customers

As much as the wireless industry hates it, cheap prices always seem to win out when it comes to the motivations of wireless customers. According to a new survey from J.D. Power and Associates, price and design are the primary reasons consumers buy certain wireless devices, not advanced features. Not many respondents said they chose their current phone because it had a particular feature. The firm surveyed 18,740 users in two waves, one last October and one in February. They were allowed to give multiple reasons for the purchase. It looks like the get-a-free-phone-when-you-sign-up-for-service mentality still prevails among consumers, but at least they want a stylish phone.
