Time Warner may bid for AWS spectrum

Time Warner Cable said it is registering with the FCC to participate in next month's advanced wireless services auction, although it made it clear the company might not bid. "We're evaluating whether it would make sense for us [to bid on] wireless," said CEO Glenn Britt during an investor's conference. Time Warner along with Comcast, Cox Communications and Advance/Newhouse Communications already have a joint mobile partnership with Sprint Nextel to offer a quadruple play. Other reports indicate Time Warner may bid with its cable partners for spectrum. If it happens, where does that leave Sprint Nextel in the long run? We could see another formidable wireless competitor.
