Trend: Security could hamper muni WiFi

Some technologists warn that municipal WiFi networks could be hampered by issues with security. Most municipal networks either being planned or being deployed do not secure the connection between the customer and the node. Adding security to municipal networks, though, adds more complexity and cost. While savvy users will add security on their end, most users will not and this could create problems both with the networks themselves and with public perception of the municipal WiFi.
