According to research firm Strategy Analytics, homeowners worldwide will purchase nearly 950 million wireless home devices, including game consoles, wireless MP3 players and connected TVs by 2012. A recent testament to the trend: Verizon just partnered with GN Netcom, a developer of hands-free audio solutions to launch a series of Verizon-branded headsets used for on-line gaming and VoIP around the house. If and when the 802.11n standards mess gets cleared up, some industry pundits say the wireless digital home will become a reality.
